Langbein har vært med i flere kjente tegnefilmer. Han var hovedperson i en rekke kortfilmer på 1940- og 50-tallet. Det er også produsert en TV-serie som het Langbein og sønn. Der blir sønnen hans Max introdusert. I denne serien bor han i en by som heter «Spoonerville». I 1995 hadde Langbein hovedrollen i filmen En langbeint film, som er basert på Langbein og sønn. Oppfølgeren En ekstremt langbeint film ble gitt ut i 2000.
I tegneseriene opptrer Langbein vanligvis sammen med Mikke Mus. I tråd med sitt opprinnelige navn Goofy (= toskete) er han ofte fremstilt som utpreget dum, dels til frustrasjon for sin gode (og meget intelligente) venn Mikke. I historier der Mikke er amatørdetektiv får Langbein en «Watson»-rolle som detektivens mindre begavede venn.
Langbein har en nevø som heter Ferdinand. Han har en rekke mer eller mindre fjerne slektninger som besøker ham fra tid til annen, blant annet Klossbein, Jungel-Harry og Indiana Beinson.
